In 2013, officials cut the ribbon on a long-awaited extension of Raleigh Street, providing additional access to and through downtown Martinsburg and unlocking additional parcels for growth and development.

Featuring wide sidewalks, bike trail, and several bridges to accommodate environmental features and rail traffic, the Raleigh Street Extension exemplifies the sort of infrastructure that Martinsburg officials champion to support well-planned community planning and economic development.

Since the project’s completion, this part of the city has seen commercial growth, the formation of a TIF district to support further development, and is preparing for the strategic relocation of the Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority’s headquarters and primary transfer facility.
